The first night of the Republican National Convention included dire warnings about what would happen to the United States if Joe Biden is elected president. The convention included video of President Donald Trump discussing the coronavirus with frontline workers.

Police in Kenosha, Wisconsin fired tear gas at protesters who defied a curfew, threw bottles and shot fireworks. It was the second straight night of protests after video showed a police officer shooting a black man, apparently in the back, wounding him.
