Following about of COVID-19, D.L. Hughley is back to work and addressing two of the national conversations: the pandemic and inequality.

On June19, after collapsing at a Nashville stand-up show, the comedian, 57, tested positive for the coronavirus;

though asymptomatic, he exposed others, including his son Kyle, 32, and his crew, to the virus.

“It’s scary to know you were walking around and potentially endangering people,” says Hughley, also dad to Ryan, 33, and Tyler, 29.

Now COVID-free, Hughley sees a connection between the battle against racial injustice—

“Just because you’re (asymptomatic),” he says, “just because you’re not doing anything actively to hurt anyone, doesn’t mean that it’s not happening in your wake.”

But Hughley has faith in the future because of the diverse coalition protesting for change:
