All 157 passengers and crew have been killed, after an Ethiopian Airlines plane crashed shortly after take off. The jet came down just six minutes after leaving Addis Ababa en route to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Nationals from over 30 countries are among the victims, but so far no Australians are thought to have been on board. The plane — a Boeing 737 Max, had only been in service for four months and is the same model as the Lion Air Flight, that crashed off the coast of Indonesia last year, killing 189 people.

Homicide squad detectives are investigating another shooting in Melbourne. The victim, a man, was found with a single gunshot wound shortly before midnight at Springvale in the city's south east. Paramedics tried to save him, but he died at the scene.
