Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to help in building a community with a shared future for humanity.

President Xi Jinping attended the 20th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO via video link on Tuesday.

He called on the bloc to deepen solidarity and collaboration, and contribute more to the stability and development of countries in the region.

When it comes to the joint fight against the coronavirus, Xi Jinping said China is willing to actively consider the vaccine needs of the SCO countries.

Tuesday's meeting was hosted by Russia, which holds the rotating SCO presidency this year.

The Chinese government says it will work with ASEAN countries to maintain regional prosperity and stability.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks when announcing a series of leaders' meetings that Premier Li Keqiang will attend this week involving ASEAN.

"China hopes that this series of leaders' meetings will focus on the two major topics of the unity in fighting against COVID-19 and seeking common development, while jointly maintaining the overall prosperity and stability of East Asia."

The Chinese premier will attend the 23rd China-AEAN leaders' meeting, the 23rd ASEAN-China, Japan and South Korea leaders' meeting and the 15th East Asia Summit from tomorrow to Sunday via video links.

The fourth Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership leaders' meeting will also be held.

Professor Toby Peters of the University of Birmingham says ultra-cold temperatures required by the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine will pose a challenge for many countries.

Peters says the problem is more acute in developing countries which have hot climates and don't have stable electricity.

Most vaccines are stored at two to eight degrees Celsius.

The Pfizer-Biontech vaccine candidate needs to be kept at an ultra-cold minus 80 degrees from the point of manufacture up to the point of use.

European Union regulators have filed antitrust charges against US retail giant Amazon, accusing it of using data to gain unfair advantages over merchants using the platform.

EU Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager says the EU is taking issue with Amazon's non-public business data of independent sellers on its marketplace, to benefit the company's own retail business.

"We have therefore come to the preliminary conclusion that the use of these data allows Amazon to focus on the sale of the best-selling products and it marginalizes third-party sellers and caps their ability to grow."

The Commission also launched a second probe into possible preferential treatment of Amazon's retail offers and those of sellers using its logistics and delivery services.

Amazon disagrees with the charges brought against the retail giant by the European Union regulators.

The US State Department has approved the sale of F-35 fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates.

The massive arms sale package worth over 23.3 billion US dollars includes up to 50 F-35 jets, 18 MQ-9B drones and munitions.

The proposed sale needs approval from Congress, and if approved the UAE will be the second country in the region to fly these stealth fighter jets after Israel.

Some congressional Democrats have raised concerns that the proposed arms sale may change the military balance in the Gulf region, and over possible leaks of sensitive technology.

外交部发言人汪文斌在宣布李克强总理将于本周出席东盟领导人系列会议时发表了上述讲话。

“中方期待此次领导人系列会议聚焦团结抗疫和共谋发展两大主题，共同维护东亚繁荣稳定大局。”

李克强将于11月12日至15日出席以视频形式举行的第23次中国—东盟领导人会议、第23次东盟与中日韩领导人会议和第15届东亚峰会。

第四次区域全面经济伙伴关系协定领导人会议也将举行。

伯明翰大学的托比·彼得斯教授表示，辉瑞和生物新技术公司共同开发疫苗所需的超低温将对许多国家构成挑战。

彼得斯表示，在气候炎热、没有稳定电力的发展中国家，这一问题将更为严重。

大多数疫苗储存在2到8摄氏度的温度下。

而辉瑞和生物新技术公司的候选疫苗从生产到使用，都需要保持在零下80度的超低温环境中。

美国国务院批准向阿拉伯联合酋长国出售F-35战机。

价值超过233亿美元的大规模军售计划包括多达50架F-35战机、18架MQ-9B无人机和一批武器弹药。

这项出售计划需要得到美国国会的批准，如果获得批准，阿联酋将成为该地区继以色列之后第二个拥有隐形战机的国家。

一些国会民主党议员担心，拟议的军售计划可能会改变海湾地区的军事平衡，还可能导致敏感技术泄露。
