Initial shipments of the second coronavirus vaccine authorized in the U.S. left distribution centers Sunday, as the nation works to bring the pandemic under control. The much-needed shots are expected to be given starting Monday, just three days after the FDA authorized its emergency rollout.

A growing list of European Union nations are barring flights from the U.K. in a bid to block a new strain of coronavirus sweeping across southern England from spreading across the continent. France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Ireland and Bulgaria announced the restrictions on Sunday.

Hundreds of Nigerian schoolboys kidnapped by Boko Haram jihadist rebels earlier this month were reunited with their families Saturday after what they described as a horrific ordeal. The boys told The Associated Press the gunmen said they attacked the school because they believe Western education is un-Islamic.
