According to Reuters, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, smashed the 2017 record for its Singles' Day sales event on Sunday, surpassing $24.15 billion sales in under sixteen hours.

据路透社报道，周日，中国电子商务巨头阿里巴巴打破了2017年光棍节的销售活动记录，在不到16个小时的时间里，销售额超过了241.5亿美元。

Singles' Day, also called “Double 11” is the world's biggest online sales event, outstripping U.S. shopping holiday Black Friday.

光棍节，也叫“双十一”，是世界上最大的在线销售活动，超过美国购物节“黑色星期五”。

Analysts say that despite continued strong growth, sales are likely to be hit by economic headwinds and new competition from competing sales events.

分析人士指出，尽管销售额增长势头迅猛，但经济下行和促销活动带来的新竞争可能会影响到它。

This year, Alibaba said there were around 180,000 brands participating in Singles' Day.

今年，阿里巴巴称，大约有18万个品牌参与了光棍节。
