Xi Jinping inspects Beijing 2022 preparations

Chinese President Xi Jinping has inspected the preparations for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing, with the opening of the winter games 30 days away.

He visited the National Speed Skating Oval, Main Media Center, Athletes' Village, Games-time Operations Command Center and a winter sports training base.

This is the fifth time that he has inspected preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympics.

China ups security review for online platforms seeking overseas IPOs

A newly revised Chinese regulation requires online platforms with more than 1 million users to undergo a cybersecurity review when they seek initial public offerings in overseas markets.

The regulation says operators of critical information infrastructure that purchase network products and services, as well as network platform operators that conduct data-processing activities, will undergo a security review if their activities affect or may affect national security.

The revised regulation will enter into force on Feb. 15.
