Baijiu is a tradition that is centuries old and full of secrets.

Pure water from the surrounding Phoenix Mountains has long been a key part of the distilling process here.

I have come to the country's longest continually running distillery here in Luzhou Laojiao.

我已经来到了泸州老窖,中国持续运转时间最长的酿酒坊

Here they have been making Baijiu for nearly 450 years.

人们在此酿造白酒已有近450年之久

The Baijiu is famous for its fierce, licorice flavours.

这里的白酒以其辛香甘甜的风味着称

What an amazing space. It's a real hive of activity.

It is like a fiery inferno bursting with fumes.

Laojiao Baijiu is made out of grain sorghum which is constantly recycled.

泸州老窖是用高粱酒醅为原料,持续循环发酵而成

New sorghum is mixed with fresh grain for each batch,

每一批高粱酒醅都要混入新鲜的高粱

meaning the drink has been flavoured with grains that are centuries old.

这是说这种酒的风味源自几个世纪的粮食发酵
