They start by cutting a big hole in the ice.

一开始他们在冰面上凿一个大洞

The first hole is critical, it's the entrance through which they will eventually feed the net.

第一洞至关重要，整张网就是通过它进入水下的

The team launched a 50 metre pole into the water

捕捞队将50米长的杆子伸入水下

which is attached to a rope like a giant needle and thread which in turn is connected to the net.

一端附有一根绳子，就像巨大的针线，这些杆依次连接着渔网

Moving out from here, they dig a series of 200 smaller holes

从这里开始，他们打下200个较小的洞

so they can reach through the ice and guide the poll and met in the right direction.

Using traditional tools and with ice up to a metre thick, it is tough work.

And I've offered to help but I'm not sure the locals are too keen.

It is a sharp metal prod on the end of a wooden handle

and he is using it to dive into the ice and create these smaller holes.

就是用它扎入冰面，凿出这些小洞的

Give me this one, my friend. You can relax.

把这给我吧，朋友。你歇会儿吧

Once they've used the axe to pick at the ice and create the hole,

一旦凿开冰面，凿出一个小孔

we then use the shovel to try and scoop it out.

我们就用铲子把雪铲走

What? What's wrong? I'm doing my very best, my friend. He makes it look so easy.

什么？哪儿不对啦？伙计，我可尽力了。他做起来太轻松了

You see now he has broken through the ice, water is coming through, this hole is almost done.

现在他凿穿了冰面，水冒出来了，这个洞就算打好了

And they are just going for the next one.

他们又去打下一个

Whilst they dig more holes, back at the start, it is time to cast the net.

当他们还在打更多洞时，在起点位置，现在要撒网了

Now the guys are just spreading out making sure it feeds into the hole.

这些人们四下散开，以确认网要通过孔洞

That's an astonishing two kilometres' long.

那可是惊人的2千米长啊

What happens is If it has any snags it won't spread under the ice

如果哪里卡住了，网就没法在冰面下铺开

so we wanted to spread nicely and catch as many fish as possible.

所以我们要布网一定要小心，这样才能捕到尽可能多的鱼
