For the sisters, who know each elephant personally,

this is a terrible moment.

It is something that we feel in our hearts.

You can imagine the kind of feelings that we get.

You know, knowing those elephants

and seeing something like that happen.

It really touches us.

It was a tough year for all the young elephants in the region.

We lost all the calves that were born that year.

那一年降生的小象都死了

All of them, we lost them.

There was nothing the sisters could do to save the baby.

But they were determined to save any elephants they could,

especially mothers who could breed again.

They found this female stuck in the mud,
