In today's podcast, a former deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has beensentenced to life in prison for taking over 35 million yuan in bribes between 2002 and 2012, according to a microblog post from a Langfang court in Hebei Province.

在今天的播客中，2002年和2012年，国家发改委原副主任因收受贿赂3500多万元被判处无期徒刑，这是河北省廊坊法院在微博所发表的声明。

In handing down the ruling on December 10, the Langfang Intermediate People's Court in Hebei Province saidthat Liu was given a lenient sentence for confessing voluntarily in taking nearly 19 million yuan in bribes in four cases which police did not initially look into.

12月10日，在执行法律法规时，河北廊坊中级人民法院称刘铁男主动交待出他曾四次收受贿赂1900万元，在最初的调查中警方对此并不知情，因上述情况刘铁男得到了宽大处理。

The court said that Liu, 59, traded his influence in the approval of highly regulated industrial projects and licensing of lucrative car dealerships for personal gain on numerous occasions while serving in various government posts, including head of the NDRC's Department of Industry.

法院称刘今年59岁，利用个人影响批准了许多受到严格管控的工业项目，并为一己私利曾多次为汽车代理商办理许可证，刘铁男曾担任过许多政府职位，包括国家发改委工业部主任。

Together with his son, he received a total of 35.6 million yuan from five companies including Nanshan Group Co. Ltd based in Shandong Province and Zhejiang Hengyi Group Co. Ltd.

刘铁男同儿子一共收受五家企业贿赂，包括山东省南山集团，以及浙江恒逸集团有限公司，总价值为3560万元。

The trial of Liu's son, Liu Decheng is pending.

刘铁男儿子刘德成的案件还没有进行审理。

The jurisdiction of Liu's case was set in Hebei's city of Langfang instead of Beijing in accordance with aSupreme People's Court ad-hoc arrangement aimed at weeding out potential obstruction of justice.

根据最高人民法院的特别安排，刘铁男一案的审判地放在了廊坊市而不是北京市，其目的是为了要铲除司法的不公正性。

Liu was sacked as the director of the National Energy Administration in March 2013 and expelled from the party five months later. His investigation led an upheaval of top leadership at the administration from several officials later put under corruption probes.

2013年3月，国家开除了刘铁男国家能源局局长职务，5个月之后开除党籍。随后，国家进行了反腐调查，他的案件让行政机构中的高层领导产生了不小的震动。
