1. President Bush is trying to reassure Americans the country's long-term economic outlook is strong. He says it's clear the economy has slowed, but says tax rebates due out in May should help turn things around.
2. Police say they believe the student body president at the University of North Carolina who was killed was a victim of random violence. Eve Marie Carson was found Wednesday. Police say they don't have any suspects.
3. Southwest Airlines says it's ready to fight a possible multimillion-dollar Federal fine. The airline is being cited for flying 117 planes, past their mandatory inspection deadlines. Southwest is blaming the FAA and says it complied with all requests.
4. Mother Nature is putting on quite a show in Hawaii. You're looking at lava that's flowing from one of the volcanoes there straight into the Pacific Ocean. That has forced some of evacuations, but so far it has been more of a tourist draw.
