What is this life if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare? —

No time to stand beneath the boughs ,

And stare as long as sheep and cows;

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass;

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like skies at night;

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance;

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

没有时间在大树之下，多站一站，

不能像牛羊注目眺望，多看一看。

路过树林顾不上观望，

松鼠在杂草中把坚果储藏。

朗朗丽日，没有时间饱览，

溪水波光粼粼，夜空般璀璨。

顾不上转身一瞥美女，貌若天仙，

欣赏纤足美腿，起舞翩跹。

没有时间静候她芳唇初开，

让明眸送出的微笑，大放异彩。

这是贫乏的人生——尽是劳神操心，

无暇伫立凝视，片刻光阴。
