NPR 11-26:They Found Magic on Broadway 还记得我俩相识的那一天(在线收听

Miriam Cruz-Colon and her husband Oscar Colon remember meeting as acting students in 1959

Somehow a friend of ours wanted us to meet together in a scene. And we were supposed to meet in front of the Ed Sullivan Theater on 52th Street on Broadway. Oscar was late, we went to Hector's.

Hector's is a restaurant on Broadway. We sat down, And the moment I sat down, there was an electricity.

There was a magic about me.right?

And we never did the scene.

But we got married, which's even better.

But, he went into the army, and he was the only guy that would get 3 or 4 letters a day because I wrote to him every single day.

It was a joke in the militaries. Colon, letter! Colon! everybody's standing there, nobody is getting letters. Colon! We are in the middle of the bone dust.

And we have about 700 letters in a box that one day we gonna publish.

We gotta be dead before they are published .

And we've been married how long? Let's see if you remember now?

43 years. Thank you.

We've been married and it's been the greatest thing in my life because Oscar is a special being. He is a little impatient, (impetuous) impetuous that I call him,uh, ....(Never had a youth.) He's like a baby, and that's what I love about him.

Miriam, you are without doubt a good and giving person, much more giving than I. You really, no no, you really are....

No.Oscar, you've given me your time, your years, you always paid attention to the kids. I was always running around doing my acting and you had the patience, you had a special ability that I think I never told you of stopping whatever you were doing ,you could have been in a big meeting, who cared you would stop and listen to me and the kids. and that.. (Saintly, I would say.) Yes, to marry me you have to be a saint.
