1. A passenger jet carrying at least 90 people has crashed near the main airport in Kyrgyzstan. At least 71 people were killed. The Boeing 737 was heading to Iran. An official says the crew reported a technical problem about ten minutes into the flight.


2. One day after holding his first campaign event with running mate Joe Biden, Democrat Barack Obama was stumping in Wisconsin. His wife has arrived in Denver, she speaks at the convention tomorrow. Obama will hold a few more campaign events before heading to Denver on Thursday.


3. Florida Governor Charlie Crist says he's grateful to President Bush for declaring that four Florida counties hit hardest by Tropical Storm Fay are major disaster areas. That makes them eligible for federal aid. At least 13 deaths are blamed on Fay.


4. The 2008 Beijing Games are on the history books. Some 91,000 people attended the closing ceremony at Beijing's National Outdoor Stadium today, which featured fireworks, dancers, drummers, the parade of athletes and the tribute to the host city of the 2012 Games, London.
