1. The House just defeated a 700-billion-dollar financial industry bailout package. Both Republicans and Democrats voted against the unpopular bill. President Bush said he is very disappointed with the vote.

2.On Wall Street, stocks plummeted before and during the vote. The Dow finished with a loss of more than 700 points.

3. A Maryland woman is behind bars after police found human remains in a basement freezer. Renee Bowman said the bodies were her two adopted daughters and they'd been there for at least seven months. The disturbing discovery was made when police were investigating a child who had run away from the home.

4. Finally, Pope Benedict is quickly earning the reputation as "a green pope". Solar panels are being installed on the top of the papal audience hall. It's one of several enviromentally friendly projects that the Vatican is involved in.
