Hello, I'm Melissa Long here at the CNN center in Atlanta with a look at some of the stories happening NOW IN THE NEWS on this Thursday June 25th. President Obama says the time to act on health care is now. He made the remarks at a forum on how to tackle the problem of those uninsured. Senate democrats are working on a trillion dollar overhaul. Critics warn the quality of care could go down, but the President says the current health care system is going to bankrupt the country. "I hurt a lot of different folks. Um, and all I can say is that I apologize." South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has resigned as the head of The Republican Governors Association that's after admitting he's been having an affair for the last year. He also admitted his mysterious absence last week was for a trip to Argentina where the woman lives. Opposition leaders in Iran have canceled their planned demonstration today. The decision comes a day after the government security forces beat people with clubs as they were gathering for protest in Tehran. Today's demonstration was called to honor victims who opposed election violence. Some kids in Kansas are going to have to start paying to ride the school bus. The Andover school board says it has to cut more than a million dollars out of its budget cutting it from transportation meant fewer cuts in the classroom. The board absolutely hated to have to make this decision, just like they had to make a lot of other cutting decisions. Guess we will be having to drive them again. But with gas prices seem to be going back up, there is more expense to charge people to ride the bus I think is ok because I think you need to preserve the education part of the school right now. Parents with children who live within 2.5 miles of the school will have to pay 100 dollars for the bus rides the next academic year. Those are the headlines at this hour.
