Part 3 Housing
Unit One Buying a house (Mary wanted to buy a house. From the ad she knew that Mr. Brian had a house to sell. Mr. Brian accompanied her to the house.)
A: Here we are.
B: Oh, the house looks nice. How long have you lived here.
A: About 50 years. My parents bought it when I was 12.
B: That’s a long time. Why do you want to sell it?
A: My wife died last year. And I sometimes feel lonely. And I want to leave with children.
B: Where do they leave?
A: In Miami.
B: It’s a wonderful place. I like that city very much.
A: I know, but it’s much more crowd and noisy than the small town.
B: Well, how much do you want?
A: One hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars.
B: That’s a lot of money. But it’s worth that.
Unit Two Redecorating a house (Ms. Samuel decided to do her house over. She was talking with the manager of the decoration company.)
A: How do you want to decorate your house?
B: As you’ve just seen. My house is old and paint on some places has falling down.
A: You mean the wall needs repainting. What color do you want?
B: White.
A: White wall looks clean and bright. What about the floor?
B: Make it over. I like it black in white.
A: All right, and the bath room and kitchen?
B: I plan buy a new bathtub for the bath room. And fix a new pendant lamp in the kitchen. |
