3. Thousands of Marines poured from helicopters and armored vehicles into Taliban-controlled villages in southern Afghanistan. It's the first major operation under President Obama's strategy to stabilize Afghanistan. The military says one Marine was killed.

4. A police chief in Northwest Ohio has retired after a video became public, showing him and a female officer kissing and caressing in the front of a police cruiser. It happened while a suspect was in the back seat.
