1. Flames shot hundreds of feet into the air after a gasoline tanker exploded and overpass collapsed all near Detroit. State police in Michigan say the truck's driver is alive and accounted for. They say they aren't sure at this point what caused the explosion.

2. Authorities in Florida have arrested an eighth person in the killings of Byrd and Melanie Billings. Pamela Long Wiggins has been charged with accessory after the fact to felony murder. She is said to be friends with Leonard Gonzalez Junior, someone described as a "pivotal person" in organizing last week's deadly break-in.

3. One man dead after a police shootout near the US capital. Authorities say the driver of this white Mercedes sped away from a routine traffic stop, struck two officers with the car then pulled out a gun. Police opened fire when the suspect refused to drop his weapon.

4. After more than a month's delay, Endeavor and its seven astronauts are finally on their way to the International Space Station. Success came on NASA's sixth launch attempt. The shuttle had been held off by technical problems and bad weather.
