1. Friends and family of captured soldier Bowe Bergdahl are praying for his safe return. The Taliban captured the 23-year-old in Afghanistan and later posted a video online which the US military calls "propaganda". The militants holding him have not set any conditions for his release.

2. Michael Vick's dogfighting sentence is over after more than 18 months in prison and two months under home confinement. Now the suspended NFL star may lobby for a return to the field. If he does, he won't be with the Atlanta Falcons. They released the former quarterback in June.

3. NASA is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The famous astronauts who first step foot on the moon are now calling for another celestial visit. They want President Barack Obama to send a mission to Mars.

4. Parisians are having some fun in the sun today with the opening of a urban beach in the landlocked city. Several tons of sand were shoveled down to the banks of the River Seine. It comes completed with palm trees, lunch chairs and Wi-Fi.
