1.U.S. Marines are staging a major assault on a Taliban-held town in southern Afghanistan. US, NATO and Afghan troops are working to protect voting sites around this country ahead of next week's presidential election. Taliban militants have vowed to disrupt the ballot.

2.President Barack Obama will continue his push for health care reform at two more town hall meetings later this week. Yesterday the President held a town hall meeting in New Hampshire where he tried to dispel what he called "wild misrepresentations of his plan".

3.Police say there's no way to know for sure how many people remain buried under a mudslide that struck a Taiwan village over the weekend. The mudslide was caused by a Typhoon that damaged or destroyed more than 10,000 homes.

4.Police in English continue to search for two suspected robbers accused of pulling off a Jewelry heist worth more than 40 million dollars. Thursday's robbery was among the biggest heists in British history. The armed men allegedly stole dozen high-end rings, bracelets and necklaces.
