1. Firefighters in Southern California continue to struggle to contain a massive blaze that is threatening the iconic Hollywood sign. The fire has chared more than 50 homes and killed two firefighters. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes.

 2. Hurricane Jimena is expected to make landfall sometime tonight in Mexico, possibly as a strong Category 4 storm. The hurricane has winds near 155 miles an hour. Emergency workers are pleading with people in the line of the storm to pack up and head out of the area.

 3. The man accused of abducting and sexually abusing Jaycee Lee Dugard testified during an unrelated kidnapping and rape case decades ago that he often prowled through neighborhoods as a Peeping Tom. Phillip Garrido served ten years in federal prison until 1988. Less than three years later, he allegedly kidnapped Dugard.

 4. Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean is suing pageant officials for religious discrimination and libel. Pageant officials say they fired the beauty queen because she missed too many scheduled appearances. Prejean says she was dismissed because of her position on gay marriage.
