[1] The head of Toyota is apologizing to the American people for safety lapses that led to a number of deaths and widespread recalls. Akio Toyota appeared Wednesday before Congress where he also disputed claims that electronics were to blame for the cars' woes. 

[2] The teacher who tackled a gunman at a Colorado middle school is lamenting that he didn't act soon enough. Two people were shot and injured in the incident. Bond for the suspect has been set at a million dollars. 

[3] The Senate has passed a 35-billion-dollar jobs bill it hopes will get the economy on track. The bipartisan measure gives businesses tax cuts and 1,000-dollar credit when they hire the unemployed. 

[4] A snowboarder is lucky to be alive after he was caught in an avalanche. The man was able to recall his ordeal as he snowboarded and slid through at all. He also says the snow itself pushed him away from the rocks.
