[01:39.28]You need to be curious.
[01:41.40]Only if you ask many different questions will you acquire all the information you need to know .
[01:47.83]we say a good reporter must have a "nose" for a story .
[01:52.27]that means he or she must be able to tell
[01:55.74]when people are not telling the whole truth and try to discover it .

[02:10.42]Here comes my list of "dos" and "don'ts": don't be rude,
[02:15.59]don't talk too much yourself, and make sure you listen to the answers carefully.
[02:21.24]Why is listening so important?
[02:24.11]Well, you have to listen to the detailed facts.
[02:27.45]Meanwhile you have to prepare the next question depending on what the person says.
[02:32.91]But how can I listen to answers if I have to write down what he or she is saying?
[02:39.24]This is a trick of the trade.
[02:41.87]If the person being interviewed agrees,
[02:44.51]we sometimes use small recorders to make sure that we get all our facts straight.
[02:49.66]It is also useful if a person wants to challenge us.

[03:19.15]We went to but denied that he had ever taken any money.
[03:28.87]We arranged an interview between that man and the footballer

[03:34.77]we guessed from the footballer's body language
[03:37.72]that he was not telling the truth.
[03:40.00]An article was written which suggested he was guilty.
[03:43.76]He was very angry and tried to stop us publishing it .
[03:48.02]Later we were proved right.
[03:48.66]That was a real "scoop".

[04:12.62]"Quick", said the editor. "Get that story ready.

[04:23.80]Zhou Yang had just come back into the office
[04:27.56]after an interview with a famous film star
[04:30.69]"did he really do that?"
[04:33.57]asked someone from the International News Department.
[04:37.23]"Yes, I'm afraid he did, "
[04:39.05]Zhou Yang answered.
[04:40.70]He set to work.
[04:41.85]His first task was to write his story,
[04:45.51]but he had to do it carefully.

[05:41.38]employed by the newspaper to polish the style .

[06:32.74]as several colours were going to be used on the story.
[06:36.16]Each of the main colours
[06:38.28]had one negative sheet
[06:40.24]and when they were combined they make a coloured page for the newspaper .
[06:44.91]after one last check the page was ready to be printed.
[06:49.95]Zhou Yang wait excitedly for the first copies to be ready.
[06:54.63]"wait till tonight," his friend whispered.
