1. Hundreds of people are dead, thousands injured, after a series of strong earthquakes in western China. The largest earthquake registered 6.9. All of the aftershocks were 5.2 or higher. Officials say many victims remain buried under the rubble of homes that collapsed during the earthquake. 2. A male aide to former Congressman Eric Massa says the Democrat regularly groped him, propositioned him and made lewd remarks to him and other staffers. Massa resigned last month under a sexual harassment cloud. The House Ethics Committee is investigating how Democratic leaders handle the allegations. 3. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is praising President Barack Obama for his nuclear security summit and for improving relations with Russia. However, he did say the two countries continue to differ about how hard to calm down on Iran over its nuclear intentions. 4. Michelle Obama has arrived in Mexico on her first solo visit to the country as first lady. Mrs. Obama will spend Wednesday and Thursday in Mexico City as part of a goodwill tour, centered on engaging young people around the world. Tuesday, Mrs. Obama made a surprise visit to Haiti. |
