Yesterday Once More

    When I was¹ young, I*d listen to the radio, waiting for my favorite³ songs. When they played I*d sing along⁴. It made⁵ me smile. Those were such⁶ happy times, and not so long ago. How I wondered⁷ where they*d gone. But they*re back again, just like a long-lost friend. All the songs I loved so well. Every sha-la-la-la, every wo-wo still shines⁸. Every shing-a-ling -a-ling, that they*re starting to sing, so fine. When they get to the part⁹ where he*s breaking her heart¹⁰, it can really make me cry. Just like before, it*s yesterday once more.     Looking back on how it was in years gone by, and the good time that I had¹¹, makes today seem¹² rather¹³ sad; so much has changed. It was songs of love that I would¹⁴ sing to them, and I*d memorize¹⁵ each word. Those old melodies¹⁶ still sound so good to me, as² they melt¹⁷ the years away. All my best memories¹⁸ come back clearly¹⁹ to me; some can even²⁰ make me cry. Just like before, it*s yesterday once more.
