CCTV9英语新闻：China lowers threshold for environmental pollution crimes

 

　　China is getting tougher on pollution by lowering the criteria¹ to define related crimes.

　　he Supreme² People’s Court and Supreme People’s Procuratorate have issued interpretations⁴ of what constitutes such crimes. A pollution case will be defined as a crime if it poisons more than 30 persons, slightly injures more than three, and severely⁵ injures more than one.

　　A case will be deemed the most severe if involves more than one death, when previously⁶ it was three. The interpretation³ also sets standards for punishment, including for the mishandling of radioactive, infectious, and poisonous wastes.
