(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
Anti-government protesters have continued their attempt to shutdown the capital, Bangkok, by marching to government buildings and urging the employees inside to join their strike. This comes as the country’s Constitutional Court considers whether a February 2nd election can go ahead.
Thousands of protesters have forced official buildings to close and blocked key roads in Bangkok, hoping to strangle government business and push Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra out.
The protest leader, Suthep Thaugsuban, has called for a boycott1 of the upcoming election. He says there should be a total reform of the political system before any election can be held. But the Prime Minister has insisted that her government has no legal authority to postpone2 the ballot3, and that the election date set by royal decree is unchangeable.
The court is likely to issue a ruling in the case later on Friday.
