Protesters have continued their campaign to shutdown the capital, as the Constitutional Court considers whether a February 2 election can go ahead.
Hundreds of protesters camped out near Government House in Bangkok. The protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban, has called for a boycott1 of the election and urged his supporters to disrupt the vote if it takes place. Suthep is calling for the installation of a non-elected council of "good people" to govern and implement2 political reforms.
The Election Commission said the poll should be delayed due to the continuing unrest demanding the removal of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. But Yingluck says the date is unchangeable and the government has no legal authority to postpone3 the ballot4.
