The annual salary reports for 2014 have been unveiled in 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions around China and the national annual average salary was reported to be 50,000 yuan, equivalent to 8,000 dollars.
According to the report, people who work in the non-private sector generally earn more than those in the private sector. In the non-private sector, the national annual average increased by over nine percent last year -- the lowest growth rate since 2006, surpassing 56 thousand yuan, -- while the average salary in private sector, despite an 11 percent growth, still lagged about 20 thousand yuan behind.
Beijing tops the list, with workers in the non-private sector making as much as twice the national average. It's also the only region where workers in the non-private sector get an over-100 thousand yuan average salary while employees in the private sector in the capital earn an average of some 50 thousand yuan annually, though that still occupies the number one place in the same sector across the nation. Following Bejing is Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces.
Meanwhile the bottom three are Henan, Hebei and Guangxi with Henan seeing only about 40 percent that of Beijing.
