After the awards the mother of two said she was "in a state of shock" and was astounded¹ at winning the award. Her ongoing² performance in the musical is her Broadway debut³ and has received rave⁴ reviews from critics. One critic described Catherine's performance as "bewitching, confident and utterly⁵ natural" and another described her rendition as "captivating". The win tops off an extraordinary week for the actress who has just been awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list, for services to the film industry and for her charity work. To be awarded an honour from the Queen is very significant and only a small number of people are picked every year for their contributions to British life. Some other Tony Award winners on Sunday were Scarlett Johansson, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis and British actor Douglas Hodge. Ever the professional, on the night Catherine said "I'm losing my voice but I'll be back on stage on Tuesday, don't you worry".
