The first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States has died, this according to a spokesperson at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Officials there say Eric Duncan died Wednesday morning after fighting quote courageously¹ against the disease.

Several Syrian human rights groups are calling for international help to save a Kurdish town. They say Kobani is at risk of falling into the hands of the Islamic State group. The fighting has forced thousands to flee and seek shelter in neighboring Turkey.
