From NPR news in Washington. I am LK. The upstate New York town of Webster is coping with a Christmas Eve tragedy after firefighters responding to a blaze and countered gunfire from a wood struct, two of them died. Police say the man suspected in the shooting is dead, and they have identified him as 62-year-old William Spengler. Webster police chief Gerald L. Pickering tells reporters it looks like the shots were set to draw the firefighters.

It does appear that was a trap that was set, for responding ,you know, first responders, but causative reasons, we don, t have this time.

Police say the suspected shooter died at a self-inflicted gun shot to the head. A winter storm morning is out for the S, between S and R, assuring a white but treacherous1 Christmas for some. Snowy road conditions are also rough set at the Oregon border. More rain is expected for Northern California tomorrow. The plain states and northeast meanwhile are bracing2 for a dose of winter weather, National Weather Service lead forcaster Bob O.

The definitely weather system is passing the country, some parts of the country have received some heavy snow in the past week, and the very stormy across the west, and with the new storm developing across the S, United States moving northeast toward a large part of the country from plains toward northeastern U.S., who had potential forceful storm on the ground on the Christmas day.

Bob O  with the National Weather Service. Next time the Airlines says your baggages overweight, don, t be so sure. NPR, S TR says an hour owner report show that at three local airports, a quater of the scales were out of complaints.

The A department of weight measures tested the scales at airline counters in Phenix and Tucson, some scales lacked signs with overweight baggage charges, from fifty dollars to two hundred dollars per bag, some scales didn, t work right, both in the passenger, s favor and in the airline, s. Department director K says weight heavy bags at home first.

Take it into your bedroom scale and hopefully your bedroom scale isn, t cheating you either, and it will give you an idea about how much your bag is going to weight, and so that you at least have some idea before you get to the airport.

Another tip, make sure the airline scale is at zero before your bag goes on it. Tr NPR NEWS, Tucson.

In lower Manhattan this evening, New Yorkers will gather at a 911 memorial for mid3 night mass on Christmas EVE, the tradition began 11 years ago the first Christmas after the attacks. For some time now, there have been question swirling5 about the seriousness of the Pakistani government, s efforts to find peace with Afghanistan, now aguably, the most powerful man in Pakistan, army chief  A, has told officials that it should be a top priority. U.S. officials say they believe the new focus on peace grows out of Pakistani concern that once U.S. troops pulled out of Afghanistan in 2014, militants6 will set their sites on Pakistan, the question is whether the intelligence services here still hold enough sway with Taliban to move them towards talks.
