Aye and he would fain kill all his crew. 是呀，他还会把所有的水手都杀了的。

Does he not say he will not strike his spars to any gale²? 他不是说过：碰到随便什么风，他都不让人家扯动他的木材吗？

Has he not dashed his heavenly quadrant? 他不是把他那只宝贝似的象限仪都摔了吗？

and in these same perilous³ seas, gropes he not his way by mere⁴ dead reckoning of the error-abounding log? 就在这种危险的波涛里，他不是光靠那错误百出的航海日志上一些不中用的记录在瞎摸着前进吗？

and in this very Typhoon, did he not swear that he would have no lightning-rods? 在这种台风中，他不是赌神罚咒地说，他不要什么避雷针嘛？

But shall this crazed old man be tamely suffered to drag a whole ship's company down to doom⁵ with him? 但是，是不是就服服帖帖地听任这个疯老头子把全船的生命都跟他一起拖向毁灭之路呢？

Yes, it would make him the wilful⁶ murderer of thirty men and more, if this ship come to any deadly harm; 是呀，如果这艘船真正碰到什么致命的危险，这就使他成为杀害三十多人的故杀犯了；

and come to deadly harm, my soul swears this ship will, if Ahab have his way. 如果亚哈这样固执下去，我敢立誓，这艘船真会碰到致命的危险。

If, then, he were this instant — put aside, that crime would not be his. 那么，如果这时候把他——收拾掉了，他就不会犯上那个罪孽了。

Ha! is he muttering in his sleep? Yes, just there, — in there, he's sleeping. 哈！他在睡梦里还在嘟哝个不停嘛？不错，他正睡在那里，——睡在那里边。

Sleeping? aye, but still alive, and soon awake again. 睡着？不错，不过还活着，不一会儿，又会醒来。

I can't withstand thee, then, old man. 你这老头儿，我受不了啦。

Not reasoning; not remonstrance⁷; not entreaty⁸ wilt⁹ thou hearken to; all this thou scornest. 说理呀，规劝呀，恳求呀，你都听不进，你反而破口大骂。
