You may have never heard of them over here but in the east, the Golden Horse awards are massive. There is star-studded occasion for the Chinese speaking world with top talent from Taiwan, Hongkong and China turning out each year for the red carpet event. The big winner at this year's competition was Ang Lee's steamy Lust¹ Caution. It picked up seven honors including best director and best film.The movie is about a Chinese woman tasked with killing² a Japanese collaborator³ in Shanghai during World War II, and was the favorite going in to the star-studded event. Lee has said he isn't optimistic about his film's chances in the rest of next year's other categories as the film hasn't been as well received in the United States as elsewhere.

Lust Caution has been stopped from entering the Oscars under the foreign film award for Taiwan, because the Academy ruled that its cast was too international.
