First then, the UN's Humanitarian¹ Chief, Valerie Amos, has strongly urged the Security Council to pass a resolution calling for more humanitarian access in Syria. Nearly 1,400 people have so far been evacuated² from the old city of Homs,but more than 250,000 people remain in besieged³ areas of the country.
