 From Haridwar. I followed the Ganges more than 300 miles South east to the major industry city. India's population has more than doubled in the last forty years. It's now more than 1.2 billion people in the country. The impact on the river has been a pulling. I mean it's a place go K. now which is one of the pluty cities in India. The banks of the river were neaty with rotting rubbish. It was all in startled contrast to pure water I've seen flowing from Himalaya at the start of my journey. But in spite of the evident filter leaching¹ into the river, it was religious holiday. People were still taking a holly² deep. They feeding those cows. In a ceremon your way? Today is a very special day so they are freeing the cows to gain more,you know, blazing so God. More coma³. Yeah. That's a coma. Cows are reviled⁴ in India because they give milk freely. It's to bull to kill or even injure them. So I was surprised to discover India is now among the biggest six ballters of beef and leather in the world.
