字首 uni 源自拉丁文形容词 unus,原义即为 one. uni 在拉丁文中亦为字首; 后面所接的字根第一个音若是母音,则拼成un,如unanimous a. [意见一致的],universe n.[宇宙] (拉丁文作 universitas n.f.),字根 vers 有 [转] 的意思,万物旋转成为一体,自然变成 [宇宙]; 形容词 universal指 [万物皆适用],因而便有了 [共同,普遍] 的意思.

anim 源出拉丁文两个名词 anima [呼吸]和 animus¹⁴ [心,精神],因此有两种不同的解 释. 英文 animus n. [敌意],源借自於拉 丁文 animus,於十九世纪左右已有 [仇恨] 的意思. unanimouse a. [意见一致] 的字 首 un 看似否定,其实却是 uni [一],因 此才有 [心一致],以至於 [意见一致] 的 意思. 由 anim 组成的单字,有些不属常用 字汇范围,例如: animal n. [动物], animism n. [万物有灵论],animalcule n. [微生物] 等.

5 prodigal   

adj.浪费的，挥霍的，放荡的

6 cogent   

adj.强有力的，有说服力的

参考例句：

• The result is a cogent explanation of inflation.结果令人信服地解释了通货膨胀问题。
• He produced cogent reasons for the change of policy.他对改变政策提出了充分的理由。

7 activate   

vt.使活动起来，使开始起作用

参考例句：

n.恶意；意图
