美国总统大选双方“民调持平”

　　Michelle, who is more popular than the president, is expected to woo women voters, an effort to eke¹ out any advantage in a race marked bytoo-close-to-call polls and a dearth² of undecided voters.

　　比总统本人更受欢迎的第一夫人米歇尔有望争取到女性选民的支持，也希望以此维持（奥巴马的）优势。此次大选中，双方民调持平，且摇摆选民不多。

　　Too-close-to-call polls就是“民调持平”，too close to call描述的是在竞争过程中，双方势均力敌，无法在整个竞争过程结束前预测哪一方会取得胜利。目前的daily tracking poll（每日追踪民调）数据显示，罗姆尼和奥巴马的支持率很接近，双方处于electoral deadlock（选举僵局），每一方都想方设法在竞选中nose ahead（领先）。Undecided voters指那些没有明确表明支持任何一方，尚未决定为哪一方投票的选民。

　　米歇尔“打头阵”英文可以用fire the first shot来表示，如：Michelle Obama fired the first shot at the Democratic National Convention.（米歇尔?奥巴马在民主党全国代表大会上打头阵。）
