China marks 20th anniversary of high-tech industrial park program

Among the visitors were several senior officials, including State Councilor Liu Yandong, Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection² (CCDI) He Yong, Vice³ Chairmen of the Standing⁴ Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Lu Yongxiang, Han Qide and Sang Guowei, State Councilor Ma Kai and Minister of Science and Technology Wan⁵ Gang.

Over the last two decades, 88 state-level high-tech industrial parks have been established across the country.

In 2011, industrial parks across China reported total revenues of 13 trillion yuan (2.06 trillion U.S. dollars), paying 681.6 billion yuan in taxes. Companies in the high-tech parks laid claim to 50.7 percent of patents obtained by Chinese enterprises that year.

The exhibition was jointly⁶ held by the Ministry⁷ of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the ministries⁸ of finance, land and resources, housing and urban-rural development.
