46 Body Language¹

 

　　If you can speak English, you know a lot of English words. You can read, speakand understand. But there is another kind of language you need to know — thelanguage of the body.
All over the world, people "talk?with their hands, with their heads, and withtheir eyes. When Japanese² people meet, they bow³. When Indians⁴ meet, they puttheir hands together.
When British⁵ and American people meet someone⁶ for the first time, they shakehands. They do not usually shake⁷ hands with people they know well. Womensometimes kiss⁸ their women friends, and men kiss women friends (on the cheekonly). When a man meets a man friend, he just smiles, and says "Hello? Men donot kiss each other, or hold hands. Even⁹ fathers and sons do not often kisseach other.
