译文：顾拜旦觉得最有说服力的，是人们能够从体育中得到很多经验，以及体育在教育人方面可以带来益处。并且他认为，阿诺德（Arnold）引入了运动精神的想法：人们参加竞技比赛，并怀着正面的精神去进行比赛，就能够体会到这种精神，另外就算是输了比赛，只要行为得当，也能学习到运动精神。
