Apple and Apple have settled their long trademark1 dispute. Steve Jobs' company, which just renamed themselves from Apple Computer to Apple Inc., and Apple Corps2, the company that has overseen3 the interests of British pop group the Beatles since they founded the company in 1968, are no longer battling over the use of the word "Apple." Apple, Inc. will own the Apple trademark and license4 certain trademarks5 back to the Beatles' company. The new deal replaces a 1991 agreement in which the computer company promised not to use the word "Apple" in the music business. It also raised hopes among Beatle fans that their music would finally be available over the computer company's iPod service.
