Hengshui High School, an elite¹ Chinese high school in north China which is known for Gaokao sweatshop has recently opened a branch school in Zhejiang Province. This high school has a reputation of mass producing high achievers in the Chinese college entrance exam, through military style training.

 

Is Zhejiang Province leaning towards exam-oriented education? Is it a defeat of comprehensive education?
