　　Stubb here alluded¹⁰ to a strange story told of the Jeroboam, and a certain man among her crew, some time previous when the Pequod spoke¹¹ the Town-Ho. 斯塔布指的是上次碰到"大鲸出来了号"的水手时所谈起的"耶罗波安号"一个水手。

　　According to this account and what was subsequently learned, 根据这情况以及后来所知道的，

　　it seemed that the scaramouch in question had gained a wonderful ascendency over almost everybody in the Jeroboam. 这个不相识的胆小鬼，看来差不多对"耶罗波安号"的全体船员具有一种奇特的权威。
