(单词翻译)

Good afternoon, I'm Naamua Delaney at the CNN Center in Atlanta. Here is a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

Pope Benedict XVI spoke1 at the United Nations this afternoon. He addressed the General Assembly in French and then English, speaking about religious freedom and aid to developing countries. The Pope also named respect for human rights as the solution for many of the world's problems. Later he will visit a Manhattan synagogue.

The US military is warning Iraqis that Al-Qaeda in Iraq is planning suicide attacks in Baghdad in the near future. Information collected by coalition2 forces says numerous Al-Qaeda terrorists have entered the Baghdad area with the purpose of carrying out attacks in central Baghdad. Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition Forces are distributing pamphlets describing signs that may indicate terrorist activity.

Citygroup is slimming down. The big bank is eliminating another 9,000 jobs after first quarter losses added up to more than 5 billion dollars. That follows a 10-billion-dollar loss in the fourth quarter of last year. So far, more than 13,000 workers of Citygroup have been laid off.

In Texas, custody3 hearings continued for 416 children taken from a polygamist sect4. A Child Protection Supervisor5 took the stand for a second day today as part of the hearing. Yesterday, one child welfare worker took the stand and told a Texas judge, girls at the polygamist ranch6 may have got pregnant there when they were just 13.

There is no major damage, and apparently7 no one was hurt after a 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook the Midwest this morning. The quake was centered near the Illinois-Indiana state line, and was felt as far away as Alabama and Michigan. Chicago police say they got hundreds of 911 calls. Debris8 scattered9 across some roads is causing headaches for drivers.

Well, those are the headlines this hour, stay with CNN for more on these stories and of course the other news of the day.
