I am Asieh Namdar at the CNN.com newsroom in Atlanta. Here is a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.
Key West, Florida is closing up shop ahead of Tropical Storm Fay. The city will be shut down tomorrow while as many as 25, 000 visitors and residents head out. The storm is expected to cross the Florida Keys tomorrow night. The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch for the Keys, and says the storm could reach hurricane strength by the time it reaches Cuba tonight.
Russian tanks and armored personnel carriers are still in Georgia, so are Russian troops. The Kremlin says it will begin its withdrawal1 tomorrow. Meanwhile, German Chancellor2 Angela Merkel met in Tbilisi with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. She urged Russia to complete its pullout quickly.
Now to Nepal where a bomb has exploded at the home of the country's vice3 president, injuring a bodyguard4. The vice president, seen here, ignited a wave of protest last month, when he took the oath of office in Hindi instead of the country's official language. He's Nepal's first vice president since the country abolished monarchy5. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
in Scotland, Texas, the body of a store clerk, whose abduction was caught on security cameras on Friday, has been found. Police say a suspect led them to the body in a remote area in North Texas. Court record showed the suspect was convicted of sexual assault in 1997 and had failed to register as a sex offender6.
And the Dark Knight's hold on the top spot at the box office has finally come to an end. Ben Stiller's controversial spoof7 'Tropic Thunder' is the No. 1 movie. It earned an estimated 26 million dollars. The Batman sequel, starring Christian8 Bale and the late Heath Ledger9, dropped to No. 2 with 16 million dollars, ending its four-week run at the top. It has now grossed 471 million dollars, surpassing Star Wars as the second biggest film of all time.
And those are the headlines this hour. For more on these stories and other news of the day, CNN is your source online, on TV, or when you are on the go.
