Hello to you I'm Stacey Elgin at the CNN Center in Atlanta. Here's a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

A radical1 move to try to thaw2 out the frozen credit market. The government says it will buy huge amounts of short-term business debt. The practice has come to a standstill since the current financial meltdown. The Fed hopes the move will kick-start short-term loans and help to unfreeze longer-term credit.

Taking a look once again at the live pictures from Congress  grilling3 AIG executives about why the company went south. The government is propping4 up the massive insurance company with an 85-billion-dollar loan. Documents obtained by a Democratic-led House Committee show AIG executives hid their increasingly risky5 investments from company auditors6. Not at the hearing today was AIG's biggest single shareholder7, former CEO Maurice Greenberg says he is sick.

Police say financial problems led a California man to kill his family then himself. His body was found yesterday in his L.A. home along with his wife, 3 kids and mother-in-law. They say the man was an unemployed8 financial manager. The killer9 wrote in a suicide note that killing10 himself and murdering his family was more honorable than just taking his own life.

A federal judge in Washington is ordering a small group of Chinese Muslims held at Guantanamo to be released immediately. The judge says the prisoners are no longer considered enemy combatants. They've been held now for nearly 7 years.

Well it's exactly four weeks until Election Day but only hours until tonight's presidential debate in Nashville , Tennessee. John McCain and Barack Obama have been preparing ahead of the big night. This afternoon Obama holds a campaign rally in Nashville. There are no events scheduled for McCain although his running-mate Sarah Palin had an event earlier today in Florida. Don't forget you can catch the debate and post-debate reaction right here on CNN.com live.

And that's a look at the latest headlines for you this hour, do be sure to stay with CNN for more on these stories and of course other news of the day.
