unclemartin:Jackson, congratulations to you and Mary! I just heard that you two are getting married next month. You haven't met Mary for a long time. Tell me what made you appear to be rushing into it hastily.
[Assuming you are Jackson, join in the dialogue. I undertake to respond to each chain of conversation to the best of my ability in sparing the time. It's FREE PRACTICE! No harm to your wallet.]
wscy:fall in love at the first sight!
unclemartin:Falling in love at first sight doesn't necessarily translate to
immediate1 wedding. You can have an
incarnate2 knowledge of each other first without waiting for the wedding night. We are at an age when that piece of paper has a very different meaning.
xiaoyuyu:it seems like wscy is a romantic person!how to express 闪婚
unclemartin:This is not a western concept. It is uniquely a phenomenon in contemporary China.
You can't call that a Ligtning Wedding perhaps. Try
FLEETING3 MARRIAGE.
I am not bothered at all as a foreigner won't understand you easily anyway. You can't make yourself understood without elaborating a bit on that unique contemporary phenomenon.
martinpeng:Hi, maybe we can call it Spur-of-the-moment Marriage, or simply Quick Marriage. Marriage is a huge commitment because it is meant to
bind4 two people's lives together for probably the rest of their life. For such a big decision, you can't take the commitment lightly, which may increase the risk of unhappiness or even divorce.
unclemartin:Somehow I got the impression that this what we call SPUR-OF-THE-MOMENT MARRIAGES are popular amongst the 90's, and then they also dissolve the marriage pretty soon thereafter. So, they marry and divorce each other quickly. I may be wrong as I have not followed through after hearing this new term.
